Alyssa Ealy
Licensed Associate Professional Counselor
Hello! I am Alyssa Ealy, and I am an Associate Professional Counselor (APC) in the state of Georgia. I am pursing my registered play therapist certification (RPT) through the American Play Therapy Association. I received my B.S. in psychology from University of West Georgia and my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University.
I have been working with children and teens through various environments including volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Fulton County working closely with foster children and their parents. My passion to become a counselor came from my own personal experience of what a strong supportive relationship, empathy and acceptance can do for a persons mental health.
I specialize in working with children from ages 5 and up, pre-teens, and teens coping with anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger, trauma, grief, and self-esteem. As well as young adults facing various life changes that can cause an increase in anxiety and depression as they begin their path into adulthood. I utilize both a directive and non-directive approach depending upon the needs of my client, I enjoy helping my client process and explore their emotions both through talk therapy and creative modalities. I mostly work from a person-centered and Adlerian theoretical orientation but utilize various interventions with my clients including CBT, DBT, and solution-focused. I strive to create a therapeutic environment that feels accepting and safe so clients can feel understood and open to share their thoughts and feelings without judgement. My goal is to help clients feel heard and collaborate in session to build resilience, achieve client goals, focus on their strengths, and feel confident to face life stressors.
In my personal life I love spending time with my family and friends, trying new things and exploring new places. A fun fact about me is I powerlift as one of my hobbies and can deadlift and squat over 300 pounds!!
Alyssa Ealy is under the clinical supervision & direction of Crissy Himelstein, MA, LPC, CPCS, RPTS.
