Licensed Associate Professional Counselor
Hello! I’m Beth Ashworth, a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) with a bachelor’s of science in Psychology and a Master’s of Science in Counseling from the University of North Georgia. I am currently working towards full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) as well as becoming a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) under the supervision of an LPC, RPT-S.
I have experience in working with a diverse population, including young children, teens, and adults. I have enjoyed helping my clients with experiences such as depression, trauma, anxiety, divorce and family changes, self-harm, and self-esteem. My approaches include person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and narrative therapy, among others. Outside of my counseling education, I enjoy utilizing my minor in Studio Art to help clients express themselves in ways that may be difficult for them to do in traditional talk therapy.
Since beginning my journey as a counselor, I have learned that one of the most difficult steps in the therapeutic process is making the decision to start it. It is my belief that this decision should be celebrated and in that way, I strive to meet my clients where they are at in regards to their own personal journey. It is my hope that in this process, my clients can explore, confront, and nurture parts of themselves and their story. I look forward to helping you and your family approach a more fulfilled life.
In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the scenery and nature that North Georgia has to offer, as well as research places that aren’t as easily reachable by an afternoon car ride. I also like to read, spend time with my cats, and utilize artistic activities to practice self-care and personal expression.
Beth is under clinical supervision & direction of Crissy Himelstein, MA, LPC, CPCS, RPT-S.
