Chloe Shank
Master of Social Work

Hi! I’m Chloe, and I’m excited to introduce myself to you!

I recently moved to the Atlanta area after spending the last 10 years in Knoxville, TN. I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Child & Family Studies and a Master’s of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. While earning my Master’s Degree, I took additional courses and specialized field placements to earn a Trauma Treatment Graduate Certificate at UT, as well. I bring over 5 years of experience working with children and families in community mental health settings and I look forward to continuing my work in my new city with Sunshine Child & Family Counseling.

My experience has allowed me to work with diverse populations and a variety of mental health-related symptoms. While I am skilled and experienced in working with a variety of clients, I truly am passionate about working with young children in the early childhood phase (ages 0-8) and their caregivers to form healthy attachments, develop realistic strategies to manage emotions and behaviors, and navigate the stressors of caregiving.

I operate from a humanistic, attachment-focused, and trauma-informed lens – meaning I strive to create a space for clients to feel safe and understood, while providing therapeutic tools to improve interpersonal functioning and healthy emotion regulation. I utilize a blend of therapeutic modalities, primarily in a play-based approach to provide kiddos with the developmentally appropriate space to work towards their therapy goals.

I am working on becoming credentialed as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), which provides me with specialized training to work with kiddos experiencing an array of challenges. In addition to working towards my RPT, I am also working on becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and practice under the clinical supervision of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Professional Counselor/Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time at home or out-and-about with my husband and our dog, Jed. I love exploring all things Atlanta has to offer, traveling, and particularly love seeing live music!

“When you focus on the problem, you lose sight of the child.” -Garry Landreth, LPC, RPT-S
