Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (eligible)
Hello! My name is Desiree Lewis. I am eligible for my Associate Professional Counselor Licensure (LAPC). I am pursuing my registered play therapist certification (RPT) through the American Play Therapy Association. I received my B.S. In Biology from Savannah State University and my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health from Mercer University.
I enjoy working with clients from age 4 to 12, teens, and young adults. I have worked with individuals who have experienced anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and grief. I have experience working with children and adolescents in various settings starting within schools. I strive to meet my clients where they are with the hope of making them feel safe and heard while finding creative ways to achieve their personal goals. I mainly work from an Adlerian theoretical orientation but utilize different interventions depending on the client’s needs. I believe that everyone is unique and needs approaches that best fits them.
In my personal life, I enjoy crafting, reading, going to church, and spending time with family and friends. I also look forward to traveling more this year. I love all things, Disney. I consider myself to be a big kid at heart. I have probably seen every Disney movie there is and visited Disney World for the first time in undergrad for a graduation gift to myself.
If you would like to learn more about me, have any questions about the counseling process, or interested in scheduling an initial appointment, please feel free to contact to me. I look forward to meeting you!
