Duchess, Certified Service Dog
Hi! I’m Duchess!
I’m a 2-year-old Goldendoodle and what I like to call a triple threat: Jamila’s certified service dog, a therapy dog, and an overall cutie pie (if I do say so myself). While those are my official titles, I’m also a professional tail-wagger, expert treat connoisseur, and occasional tripping hazard. (Sorry in advance, I get excited to see my friends!)
My job is to help make therapy feel a little less scary and a lot more comfortable. Whether you’re feeling nervous on your first day, having a hard time talking about big feelings, or just need a furry friend by your side, I’m here to help.
I’ve worked with children as young as 3 years old, all the way through adults, and I’m specially trained to support:
- Anxiety reduction
- Grounding techniques
- Building therapeutic rapport
- Emotional regulation
- Practicing social skills and connection
- Offering unconditional love (this is my favorite part!)
One thing you should know about me is I believe therapy should feel like a safe place. Sometimes that means sitting quietly beside you, sometimes it means joining an activity, and sometimes it just means reminding you to take a deep breath while giving me a few pets.
I also know that dogs aren’t for everyone and that’s perfectly okay! Whether you’re nervous around dogs, have allergies, or simply prefer to meet without me, your comfort always comes first. I’ll never be offended (I promise!), and Jamila will make sure you have the therapy experience that’s right for you.
