Licensed Professional Counselor
My name is Heather Jackson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I received my Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida and my Master’s of Science in Counseling from the University of North Georgia in Cumming, Georgia.
As a therapist, I believe that you as my client are capable of living a meaningful and healthy life. My role is to work alongside my clients to provide a safe, empowering, supportive and collaborative environment to support growth and change. Working with children and families has always been my passion, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to know my clients.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, family systems, and addiction, as well as mood disorders, trauma, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder. I have worked with adoptive families and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the past, as well as with families and children navigating the foster care system.
I have completed trainings in the following areas:
– Motivational Interviewing
– Crisis Intervention
When I’m not working, I absolutely love to be out in nature. Typically, my free time is spent driving or hiking around the Blue Ridge Parkway, kayaking, reading sci-fi novels, refinishing antique furniture, or making jewelry as a hobby.
My husband and I live on a farm in Northeast Georgia with our 12 year old Chihuahua who is absolutely the most spoiled pup on Earth, as well as two cats: Pepper Anne Pickles and Sashimi Neko. We also have several dozen cows, chickens, and goats to keep us company.
If you would like to learn more about me, have any questions about the counseling process, or are interested in scheduling an initial appointment, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to meeting you.
